"SPEDALE DEGLI INNOCENTI" Gallery
The Gallery OF THE "Spedale Degli Innocenti" is in one of the most well-known and attractive architectural complex of the 15 century in Florence, ordered and financed by the Arte della Lana on drawing of Filippo Brunelleschi. The Spedale helped to grow the neglected children. In the building of the refectory, in the "chiostro", in the dormitories, in the rooms of the nurses and in the portico, Brunelleschi created a perfect example of harmonious and rational architecture. Subsequently it was decorated with frescos ordered by the Medici' Family. After the flood of 1966, the complex was entirely restored and it returned in all its appearance. The Gallery, above the "chiostro" and the children rooms above the portico, contain splendid pieces of incalculable artistic value.
